Baja Properties

Ensenada Properties

As home prices in California soar, our mission at ILAL has become more critical to American home buyers than ever; to strive to develop land in Mexico and create Baja properties that mirror the quality of homes your family needs. The San Diego Union Tribune has reported rising home prices as high as 33.37% in San Diego; the national average was 20%. This gives San Diego and San Diego County the fifth-highest increase in housing prices in the nation.

This has led many Americans to look outside big cities to find their new home, and a growing number of ex-pats are looking outside the country all together and are moving to Mexico.

As home-buyers are looking further and further away from city centers to buy a home, once overlooked suburbs are beginning to see a similar uptick in housing costs that will soon exceed the national average. We believe buying properties in Ensenada may be a solution for home buyers looking for a high quality of life with a low cost of living.

Ensenada

Ensenada, Mexico, is only 45 minutes away from downtown San Diego. To put that in perspective, that is the same distance from downtown as Alpine, CA. But when you compare the two cities, their proximity to downtown San Diego is the only thing they have in common. Ensenada is a beautiful city situated between the Pacific coast and one of Mexico’s best wine-growing regions.

The city has virtually the same climate as San Diego. Ensenada also has one of the busiest ports on the Pacific Coast in North America, making it the center of culture and tourism.

The city also boasts some of the region’s best tomatoes, olives, and grapes. Yes, that means Ensenada is also known for its wine. It may surprise many, but Baja California has the same climate as southern Italy, making it one of the region’s most famous wine destinations.

The city is perfect for ex-pats, and English speakers alike, as Ensenada is just south of the border, and a tourist hub, which means most people can speak English. So if you don’t want to learn Spanish but still want a Mexican getaway, Ensenada is the city for you.

ILAL is developing two locations in the Ensenada area that keep you one step away from Ensenada, 45 minutes from downtown San Diego, and right next door to some of the best attractions Ensenada has to offer.

Plaza at Bajamar

Bajamar is home to not only Ensenada’s best golf courses but also some of the best in Baja, California. Some high-end resorts flank the golf courses, but if that is not your speed, we are cultivating a vibrant community for ex-pats and vacation goers just south of the Bajamar golf courses.

The Plaza at Bajamar is an excellent option for San Diegans trying to find an affordable place to invest in real estate and build a home for their family. The beach living and proximity to some top-notch golfing also make this a great place to settle down for retirement as well.

Most beachfront real estate near San Diego has long been unattainable for most Americans. For the most part, beachfront developments anywhere in the US are out of our price range, especially for those looking to retire and will be on a fixed income.

The Plaza at Bajamar keeps the dream of homing a home on the water alive. The fastest developing areas in the USA are Maricopa County, AZ, Houston, TX, and Atlanta, GA, according to The Washington Post. None of these locations allow the buyer to live close to the water.

Valle Divino Resort

The most impressive thing to me is how great the vineyards in this region are. Valle De Guadalupe is one of Mexico’s best wine-growing regions. It is situated just north of Ensenada’s city center and east of Valle Divino.

Valle Divino has become one of our fastest-growing communities as it is perfect for any wine-loving vacationer, or an ex-pat who wants a more relaxed community to settle down.

Valle de Guadalupe has been called “The Napa Valley of Baja” for a good reason. The valley has a microclimate that makes it perfect for growing grapes. Wine Folley reports that there are over 150 wineries in Baja, California, and that number is steadily increasing. Here are some of our favorites from around Ensenada.

L.A. Cetto

This is one of Mexico’s most extensive vineyards. During the prohibition, L.A. Cetto hosted many movie stars trying to find themselves a party outside of the restrictive laws of the time. Today, they keep that spirit alive but also have some of the oldest vines in the region, making them an exceptional place to visit.

They do guided tours daily, where you can drink while walking through some of Mexico’s best grape-growing vines.

Baron Balche

Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, Baron Balche has got to be on the top of your list if you make your way down to Ensenada. Unlike L.A. Cetto, you will be hard-pressed to find this wine over the border. They curate a pairing menu of some of their best wines alongside some excellent tapas.

Living in Ensenada

There is so much to talk about when writing about Ensenada. The city has an amazing food scene, and their nightlife is fun for people looking to have fun for a weekend, like Hollywood stars of old, but everything else: the wine, the golf, and the ocean make this city truly memorable.

Moreover, when you compare Ensenada to several different San Diego suburbs, there isn’t anything that compares to living in Ensenada. It’s easy to write off moving to a different country. There are plenty of hurdles along the way, but at the very least, I hope you consider visiting this city, and if you do, tell them we sent you.
